Solar provides farmers with an opportunity to diversify their revenue streams, while preserving the natural environment and their own land.

Solar farms help create a legacy of enriched soil and habitat ready for cultivation for future generations. Solar farms are temporary, quick to build, as well as quick to remove. Typical solar farms will have a life span of between 25 and 45 years. We pay landowners an option fee and a stable annual rent per acre, or a percentage of the gross revenue from the solar generation. In order to gain consent, we have to demonstrate significant biodiversity net gain which the landowner will benefit from during and after our tenancy. An extensive mitigation strategy is put in place after our public consultations to ensure reduced visual impact. Our leases include a requirement to reinstate the land to its previous condition, removing all solar equipment and cabling.

Some of the land can continue to be used for sheep grazing.
